Sometimes Free Is Free

For the last week or so I’ve been giving away a free eBook I wrote entitled, “WAKE UP Your Prospecting.”. It’s a very brief to-the-point, quick read that I finished up last summer. I never got it to the point where I was 100% satisfied with it though I initially had designs on publishing it.

Fast forward a few months. I found it in a folder on my laptop and decided to just give it away—no strings attached. I posted a few notes on my Facebook page, Twitter and LinkedIn. I’ve had people from all over the world respond and I’ve gladly sent them a copy a long with a note asking them to share it with others if they feel it’s worthy. (If not, hit the delete key).

I’ve had about five or six people email me with, “What’s the catch?” or “What are you going to do with my email?” and even some wanting to know how it’s working for me as a list builder.

It’s not.

I’m not doing it to build a list—I’m not even keeping the email addresses of those who have requested it. Unless they email me asking a question, they’ll never hear from me again on it.

So, why am I doing it?

I’ve had one of the most blessed years of my career and I really wanted to give something away for free. Really. FREE. F-R-E-E. No strings attached, no obligation, no ifs, ands or buts.

It’s my gift to those who have asked for it. It’s as simple as that.

I am truly giving it away with no expectation of anything in return. Crazy, huh? Well, guess what? I can assure you I’m getting far more out of it than anyone who reads it. There is a tremendous satisfaction in giving something away without expecting anything back.

You should try it—especially this time of year.
