I recently got an email newsletter from a well-respected author and the title was “Failure Is An Option”. I’m not really sure what he was trying to accomplish with it, maybe just the shock-effect, but to me failure is NOT an option.
And it’s only an option for you if you allow it to be. You are in complete control of that.
You only fail if you quit, right? So, as long as you’re still in the game and there’s time on the clock—you haven’t lost. You haven’t failed. But, let’s say you do lose a deal or have a bad month in your business. Is that “failure”?
I don’t think so.
If I had to define failure it would be this: “Having a less than successful experience from which you learned nothing.”
If you gain knowledge or experience even if you don’t succeed, you don’t fail—at least not in my eyes. The opposite of success is not failure. The opposite of success is quitting.
Decide today, right now, right this minute that failure is NOT an option in your business. Whether you’re in sales or operate your own small business—as long as you don’t throw up your hands and quit—you are still in the game.
Now, get in there and win it!
